Patient Educational Handbook

We have produced a Patient Education Handbook for newly diagnosed patients, completed with healthcare provider and patient input, which is available in English, Chinese, Turkish, two Spanish languages, and Arabic.

Over 14,000 copies of our handbook have been distributed worldwide, and a French and Italian translation is underway.

Lindsay's Fundraising Event

Lindsay Gordon's spinal surgery was performed by Dr. Amer Samdani at Shriner's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. Lindsay's positive experience with her spinal fusion gave her the impetus to help create the same type of experience for other patients with spinal deformities. Lindsay, her mother Robin Gordon, and the residents of Harverford Reserve hosted a fundraiser with author and inspirational speaker, Pat Croce, as a guest.

Lindsay spoke at the event, and she shared her story. Over $7,000 was raised to help support the work of Setting Scoliosis Straight! We are incredibly grateful for Lindsay's bravery and her compassion!

Database User Program

The Harms Study Group and Setting Scoliosis Straight own the intellectual property to the largest Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis database, and we are now offering this tool to others via our Database User Program.

Our vision is to advance the treatment of scoliosis and spinal deformity for children through research and education.

What is SSSF?

The Setting Scoliosis Straight Foundation, formally known as Harms Study Group Foundation, is a not-for-profit charitable foundation that was established in 2008. Its purpose is to conduct fundraising efforts in support of the Harms Study Group, with a goal to further support and advance techniques in the treatment of spinal deformities in children and adolescents.

The Setting Scoliosis Straight Foundation is in its infancy, but the current impact on improving patient outcomes through Harms Study Group research efforts has been significant.

The surgeons who devote their time to the Harms Study Group remain focused on its commitment to be internationally recognized for the highest quality published research on new spinal deformity surgery techniques. There are, however, many more questions than answers, and spinal deformities continue to affect the lives of many young people who can, and should, have a chance at a better life.
